Sutra at Watblog Wednesday
Venue: Gaia Lounge, Pune
My first startup social event ever and obviously the first one at Sutra. If I have to describe the whole thing in just one word, I would say “Fantabulous”.
With all the buzz around the event from the free beers to a lot of people we deal with attending the event, I had to check it out, so we set out on our own very own road trip.
The journey started from our Mumbai office. The Sutra gang – Waqar, Rizwan, Afaq, Prasad and Myself started off in our Scorpio at 4 pm. Reaching Pune city was not too adventurous, but yes locating the place was one hell of a ride (or should I say one hell of a drive ;)). There was an incident where 2 of the guys who were guiding us to Gaia, were actually quarreling amongst themselves regarding the directions. One of them was a cab driver and he got us to the correct place. PHEWW!!
We were relieved after reaching Gaia, and guess why ?? Not that we wanted to pee badly, but the free beer coupons at the registration desk (hahahahahaha) were the best part, there was Carlsberg beer and we loved the place the minute we entered. The lounge was really amazing – the bar, the conference area, the tree top and obviously the people. I got to socialize with a lot of people I knew only by names; from may be Waqar or Rizwan – Rajeev(Watblog), Rajeev(Burrp), Arun(Trak.in) and many more. Also I got to meet a lot of new people – Freshers from Symbiosis, Guys from Blingbees(where our pics have also been uploaded), Aspiring Entrepreneurs etc. I got to learn a lot from them. They shared their ideas, views and opinions about the stratup industry. Me, being fairly young in the industry didn’t have much to give, but yes had a lot to gain.
Along with the knowledge sharing, I had a lot of fun as well. There was this guy from SCIT who was really drunk. If you guys actually go and check his collection of cards, he would have dozens of Sutra cards, most of them from Waqar ;). He used to approach Waqar every 15 min and ask him for his card, telling him that he is a little drunk, but will surely call him the next day. It was hilarious.
All in all a really good event. Kudos to Rajeev
. I am sure I am gonna be a part of many more such events to come in the future. Cheers!!!
Oh!! Almost missed out on this — We got a lot of appreciation for our T-Shirts at the event. The tee has a message saying “If you ain’t Steve Jobs, you got to be on SutraJobs” - cheesy, but effective nonetheless. So putting up a pic of the T-shirt for the guys who missed it and for the ones who were drunk and do not remember

tshirt like totally rocks… nice story of that drunken master, that’s exactly how you make full use of free “beer”
