You know you are at Sutra if…..
- Everyone is under 24
- There are cigarette cases and ash trays on your desk
- You not only work, but have a lot of fun too
- You have to drink ‘cutting chai’ almost 3 times a day
- You eat the Bihari dude’s bhel at 6 everyday. The real fun is watching Waqar speak to him in Bihari.
- You always hear people talking about calories but still freaking out on chicken rolls and pizzas
- The neighbors cat walks in anytime which is not appreciated by the Big B (read Waqar)
- You listen to the weirdest of songs blaring from Afaq’s speakers and try not to loose your sanity.
- The monkey in the neighborhood keeps you amused most of the times.
- You see people use ‘Deksaway’ and delegate ‘taks’ to each other extensively for internal communication (The spelling mistake is intentional. Its actually DeskAway)
- You find only guys (Unfortunately, YES
But we are all eligible bachelors :D)
- You dont mind a game of snooker/pool after work
- You see a white board which doesn’t really contribute to anything productive but we have it because we wanted the office to look a little more like an actual office
- You see 4 buddies quarreling for 1 bean bag
- You see people walking in wearing shorts and T-shirt or anything they feel comfortable in (banana leaves also not a problem)

So very true! Every startup has unique characteristics and ‘characters’ in them. Was wonderful running thru this list, made me quite nostalgic (sigh!)
By Nandini on Jan 19, 2009
Very cool.

I been to Sutra office for more then couple of times and observed all this and much more
By Pankaj on Jan 23, 2009
So with all this how do you expect female to join your company???
By Vibhuti on Feb 3, 2009
@vibhuti I don’t see any reason in the given list for a female to not join the company…..its clearly a fun place to be
By Rizwan on Feb 3, 2009
@vibhuti also there are 4 eligible bachelors
By Kartik Dua on Feb 3, 2009
Well, any girl joining will find herself left alone… she might not be part of your fun activities.. and kartik.. im sure you might find girls who do not keep eyes on their colleagues… you know keeping personal life and professional life apart
Jokes apart, does your company also provide HR consulting apart from the regular recruitment?
By Vibhuti on Feb 3, 2009
Well if that is the case, we wouldn’t mind having more than one girl on board.. It would increase the team strength and also develop the gal pal thingie
N I agree, you always have to keep the personal and the professional life separate..
Our company does more than jus recruitment but yes, the primary focus remains on recruitment.. Also what precisely do you mean by “HR Consulting”..
But I guess talking about it would be more feasible… You can get in touch with anyone of us anytime.. My contact number is 9930358550…
By Kartik Dua on Feb 3, 2009
Sure it would definitely add more fun and color in your team. By HR consulting I mean as your focus are start up companies, you can also tap them with the strategic models relating to recruitment, performance management, compensation and benefits etc. This would enhance your partnership with the clients and help them grow along with your business. I would definitely like to discuss this further.

what’s the deal with cigarettes? You think that’s cool? It’s just a fool at the other end of a smoking stick
ugh, you smelly curs!
By joe moe on Feb 21, 2009
This “There are cigarette cases and ash trays on your desk” attracting more people to being in Sutra…
Good one…
By Manisha on Jun 13, 2009
@Manisha heyy…the cigarette thingy is to not attract people, just to show how life is - anyways most of us trying to quit now, so the boxes have reduced and ash trays gone
I am not amongst the people trying to quit
